For a song recognition app, Shazam is impressive. I heard a song from a YouTube video and it gave me what I've been looking for. Amazing! 👍

Shazam's such a great idea, but in execution, not so much. Some of the music I've thrown at it, it doesn't even seem to try; that is, more obscure stuff, like, say, a Shriekback song, it just gives up. Still, for the mainstream junk that you're likely wanting to know if it's the latest Kesha or Katy Perry or Taylor Swift or whatever fluff, it's pretty decent. More

I was riding a taxi on my way to work when I heard a K-pop song I really liked but I forgot who sang it, good thing I have Shazam on my phone and data. I learned it was DDD by EXID and I've been listening to the song ever since. I also recently learned that when you Shazam songs it counts on the artist's digital sales which is hella cool. More

It's a decent app for a quick and dirty shot at identifying a song. Far from perfect, but worth keeping. A good first choice to try and cut your research time short. More

Genius is basically an app that identifies songs. It's easy to use as i just have to hold my phone towards the source of music and tap the button and it will identify the song and gives me annotated lyrics. More

Out of all the song recognition apps that I tried, SoundHound is the one for me. It can even find me an Indian song. That's how it caters a wide range this app can be. More

The identification rate for Soundhound really seems low to me. Every song I've tried to have it recognize, it's failed. However, when I let loose a rip-roaring fart, it suggested a K$sha track, so maybe it's got some redeeming value after all. More

I personally prefer soundhound over shazam because its interface is more my style and it registers songs quicker. I often hear songs that I don't know the title of and hound makes it so easy to identify songs! More

I really like Soundhound! I have the worst memory for names of songs. They get stuck in my head and all I can remember is the tune or part of a chorus. This has been great! No more wondering all day what a song is! More

MusiXmatch is a great way to identify songs because it has a really huge database of lyrics. If you can't find what you're looking for on this, the song probably doesn't exist. More

Apps for identifying songs is real cool. I use Google Now. I hit the listen button and usually after only seconds it recognizes the sound and tells me what it is. I always know what is playing now. I impressed my friends and family with this because they did not know you could do it. It is very simple. It is already built into most Android phones so most people already have it. More

I wanted a new app for identifying songs I don't know on the radio. I used Google Now for this and was very disappointed. It wasn't correct most of the time. I suggest using a dedicated app for song identification rather than Google Now. More

While Siri isn't perfect, she goes a long way in helping me figure out what a song is that I just can't remember. I can't think of a better source for instant song information other than Siri... Or a radio DJ if you happen to have one standing next to you. More
