DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know that about 6 out of 10 young adults in the U.S. use online streaming services to watch television? According to Pew Research Center findings, the emergence of online streaming services such as Netflix and HBO Go has paved the way for the increase in the rate of adult viewers whose ages are from 18 to 29.
Among all the genres of tv series, anime and manga still remain to be mainstream in terms of viewing figures and demographics. This is supported by Japan's continuously expanding anime market overseas, recording the highest sales for four consecutive years according to the Anime Industry Report in 2017. In lieu of this, Netflix has been exerting a considerable amount of effort to fully conquer the anime market in the west. At a press event on March 7, 2018, Netflix announced that it will be launching its new feature, a vertical video, that will allow subscribers to have a glimpse of its shows and movies through a 30-second preview readily available on its mobile application. Be on the lookout if you want to be updated on the upcoming shows of Netflix!
On a related note, Crunchyroll, a distributor and a publisher of mangas and animes, is slowly booming from a number of one hundred thousand paying users in September 2012 to a million in February 2017. This only proves that anime will always have and will continue to have a place in every heart of every viewer.
