"Alien Isolation is amazing; the AI is revolutionary and the atmosphere is unique. I've just never played anything quite like it, it feels more or less exactly like you'd expect running and hiding from a violent alien in real life."

"Not quite as good as the original game. At its best, it can be brutal, way more so than most horror games. But too often it devolves into the usual horror game tropes."

"I was looking for a game capable of fulfilling both the Horror and the Survival genre. Dead Space 2 is the best game on steam that combines both of these genres. When I played this game, it had the managing of survival resources combined with the fear of horror games. It is an amazing game."

"I wanted to play a game that was not only Horror, but was survival as well, and Penumbra was the best game that mixes both of these genres. Penumbra was great fun to play because it not only made me scared because it was a horror title, I was also tasked with managing survival aspects during gameplay."

"An award winning single player game that lets me play the protagonist, Daniel, through a series of scary adventures and puzzles. Easy to download and update via the Steam environment. Whenever I feel the need to get my heart pounding with fear this is my first choice."

"This is resident evil biohazard like you've never seen it before. The graphics are so polished I got scared and jumped out of my seat a few times. You get to replay the classic on a modern console. The game play has been smoother as well."

"I wanted a thriller to play and decided to give this one a look. The game play is very fluid and the graphics are awesome! I was terrified most of the time I was playing and my nerves are still a jangled mess. I totally think this game will give me nightmares, but I had a blast playing it."

"This game will be a big hit and I can see myself giving it as a gift to a young male. I'm not really sure that this is completely original as there are several survival zombie themed games on the market but this one looks like fun. My grandson will love this game."

"I like to play the darkest games possible, and survival games are my favorite. I've been looking for a new RPG as my last one kind of grew stale after years of loyal playing. Recently, a friend recommended Darkwood to me. It's one of the scariest games I've ever played. It definitely fills that niche of survival horror."

"I was looking for an old-school horror survival, and stumbled upon System Shock 2. I remember playing it back when I was in school, and loving it. It feels a bit odd playing it now, with the broken mouse movement and low resolution, but otherwise the game is great."

"This game was a lot of fun when it first came out. But in the past month or so the game has almost become unplayable. You get chased by NPC which are cheating because they know your location even far far away. The multi-player which is what I was looking forward to was very clunky and poorly designed."

"Project Zomboid is a fun third-person sandbox approach to the Zombie Survival genre. I struggled with the game at first because I tried to loot the biggest caches - noob mistake. You need to level up and gain weapon skills in order to successfully find bigger caches of weapons and supplies. I liked the realism of needing to find basic supplies and sleep. I also liked the AI, which was predictable but fun."

"I'm spending more time trying to manage the poor control interface than to be able to enjoy a cult classic. This app needs work immediately because as it stands right now it is a failure of what a game is supposed to be. It's not fair to release this game for iOS when it's a poor port. We might as well play it on a different system that can manage controls better. Learn from other games as a example on how to make a better control interface. Bioshock pulled it off well. It would be easier if you could at least resize the dpad and to make your character perform a action just by pressing the right side of the screen instead of having to hit a tiny context sensitive icon. It doesn't make any sense. To the people who ported this game, fix it."

"I gotta say, I am a huge horror fan, and a huge horror game fan so I am always on the lookout for the next best thing. I think I found it. The Forest is a great horror game where you have to survive after a jet crash. It's available on Steam and my new favorite game right now."

"Metro as a game is great, but as a horror game? Not so much. You'd want Outlast for that, if you can handle the whole asylum stick. MEtro relies too much on resource management and horrible story choices that make it feel like a sci-fi instead of a horror. Not bad, but not great."

"I was trying to find the best horror survival game on Steam and decided to try Resident Evil 4 since I have enjoyed previous games in the series. I'm not sure if it's just me but I was disappointed with the storyline and the gameplay. It may because I am sick of the series after playing the three previous games."

"One of the most controversial games ever released to the public, and for good reason. Manhunt is as gritty, nasty and uncomfortable as video games get. It’s almost overbearing. Every inch of it’s levels are full of grime and grit, with eerie reminders of the awful things that have taken place within them. It’s story is populated with utterly monstrous characters that kill, torture and maim for either their safety, greed or for pure pleasure. It’s deeply cynical game with absolutely no heart. And I think that was the point. It’s a brazen, ghoulish celebration of violence and horror, as twisted and immoral as they get, and has no pretensions to be anything else. Almost holding you down and asking you “Is this really something you enjoy doing?” It may sound like I despise the game but I actually really enjoyed my time with it. No matter how raw it gets I was still very much engaged with it’s setting, story and tense if a bit dated stealth gameplay. I was drawn in and wanted to see more of what it had to offer and how it was going to end. I don't know if there can be a middle-ground of opinion with it. You'll likely either love it, or hate it. But for what it sets out to do, it does it admirably and with skillful craftsmanship. If that sounds like your jam well then have fun."

I've been interested in giving myself a little scare lately and wanted to use Steam to find a fun horror survival game. Friday the 13th: The Game is perfect for that desire as it provides an excellent mix of fearful intensity and terrifying survival gameplay. This is a great horror survival game on Steam!"

"This is a very good game that changed the way I look at horror video games. I recommend it a lot! It's also very challenging and will likely keep you busy for hours on end. I've played tons of horror games and thought I'd seen everything, but this one found new ways to surprise me."

"I liked this game overall. It was challenging and had a good plot behind it. I love the action of the film, You encounter many adversaries throughout the game and it keeps you engaged as a result. The price is right as well. I love the graphics in the game, the threats come across all the more realistic as you play. There is a lot of gore, bad language etc in the game but this didn't bother me at all. It's expected given the genre of the game. The game comes in a variety of languages and you can engage community groups should you find yourself stuck."

"The Five Nights at Freddy's series quickly became a household name when the first game was released a few years ago. If you look up the series on YouTube you will have hours of hilarious jump scare videos to go through. As for playing the game yourself, you might want to play with a light on and the sound turns down. If you have a weak heart, don't even bother installing the game."
