WHAT'S THE MEANING?

Massively Multi-player Online (MMO) games are games played over network-capable platforms like personal computers, consoles, and mobile devices and usually allow thousands of gamers to play with each other at all times. These games typically don't have any endings, but players can team up to complete objectives like beating a "boss" monster or defeating the other players' teams.

DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know that Blizzard's famous fantasy MMO role-playing game World of Warcraft is the biggest MMO in history? WoW, developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment in November 2004, boasted a peak subscription number of 12 million players in October 2010 and current reports estimate the game still has more than 5 million subscribers in 2018. The number of subs made throughout more than a decade since its release is not pure hype since even game reviewers find the MMO-RPG genre redefined by the mechanics of Blizzard's prized gem. Metacritic scored it 93/100, while GameRankings scored it 92%. IGN gave it a 9.1 out of 10 rating, while GameSpot gave it 9.5 out of 10.

The game is also credited for its diverse community since it has connected different servers around the world, which may lead it to become a model for human behavior, especially after the incident called Corrupted Blood, where players got inadvertently affected by a contagious disease and scientists noted the different reactions of the community.
