DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know that 2018 is perceived to be the Renaissance of boy bands? Simply defined as a vocal group that is composed of young male singers, boy band is making a huge come back this year according to an entertainment article posted on Time. While 2017 music chart was greatly dominated by pop and hip-hop artists like the award-winning Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, and Kendrick Lamar, 2018 is predicted to be a triumphant musical era for boy bands. While the Backstreet Boys and the ‘N Sync remain classic, a new wave of boy group is anticipated to rise such as Why Don’t We, Pretty Much, and BTS, just to name a few. Next on the list of the anticipated trends is the takeover of traditional Latin musical styles. Following the success of Despacito by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee in 2017 when it globally dominated the music charts, experts say Latin hit music is still in the groove this year. Yet another trend is the Korean movement as the Korean Pop Music (also known as K-Pop) is rapidly growing becoming a worldwide phenomenon. K-Pop’s growing popularity started when Psy released the song Gangnam Style in the United States in 2012. According to experts, Americans welcomed the genre because elements of American pop, hip-hop, and R&B are incorporated within K-Pop.
