"Jekyll is as old as cheerios, and it is so easy for developers like me to use. I have a maybe not so popular blog that is hosted on GitHub because it is free and Jekyll actually takes care of everything for me, it practically runs itself except for new content I add. The website has the new version Jekyll 2 still a ruby static site generator giving step by step directions for the update."

"Even though I personally do not use Linux, Mac, or Unix; I did recommend this to my friend who uses Linux and needs something like this for his website, he says it is one of the better programs that he has come across for Linux that lets him transform his text, he says he will definitely use this in the future."

"I have used Middleman for a recent website development project and I would definitely use it again. The program is really straight forward and offers a ton of helpful tools. I am relatively new to website creation, so I'm still trying to master the field. Middleman is definitely helping me grow my skills and feel more confident in by abilities."

"Middleman is not as popular as other design sites such as Jeckyll it has become a go to app for some more tech savvy companies such as Nest. The good thing about Middleman is that it is open source which means over 100 contributors are constantly improving the app. So it is more than just for bloggers who have static websites."

"Octopress is a great framework for bloggers. It helps them overcome the teething problems they face with WordPress, especially when it comes to HTML and Javascript issues. My neighbor who is a professional blogger has officially switched to Octopress and loves it. The interface is mobile friendly and helps attract crowd that uses mostly uses mobile devices."

"I started a blog a year ago for my cat because she always has a lot to say in her own feline way. Honestly, I had never blogged before and was to familiar with the tech side of it. Fortunately, Octopress took care of that as a blog generator that allows me to focus just on getting my cat's message out to the world."

"Nanoc is good, but it’s no Square Space! If you’re looking to build a basic site without many bells and whistles, Nanoc will definitely work. Using it, however, seems to be a bit too complicated. I’m not a tech or software novice, but navigating through the interface seemed burdensome and overly-complicated. Because of this, I would only recommend Nanoc to those with existing knowledge about website-building."

"I found Nanoc way too confusing. I followed the instructions, trying to put up a company page, and it looked terrible! It was much easier for me to just pay someone to do it for me."
